“We’re glad the government is putting out rules to control how much greenhouse gas comes from coal and natural gas power plants. Even though the final rules are a bit different from what they first suggested, it’s cool to see that they still think carbon capture tech is important for fighting climate change.

Our group, the Carbon Capture Coalition, has all sorts of people—companies, workers, and groups—that work together. Since we’re a big mix of folks with different ideas, we didn’t all agree on the first rules they talked about. But we all think that using tech to manage carbon is a smart way to cut down on pollution from power plants.

Last year, we told the government what we thought about these rules and said we’re all for using tech to manage carbon in the power sector. We also said they need to think about some important stuff to make sure we can actually use this tech.

We’re going to check out these new rules with our team and let the government know what we think. We’re also going to help the government make more rules that think about using carbon tech in natural gas power plants.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to dealing with climate change, but using tech to manage carbon is a big part of it. In the power sector, where more than half our electricity comes from fossil fuels, carbon tech is going to be super important for cutting down on pollution. And as we move forward, using carbon capture in power plants will help us have cleaner energy, especially in places where renewable energy is growing.”
