Exciting news from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)! They just appointed the first-ever board of directors for a new foundation called the Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation (FESI). This foundation will help the DOE in its important job of making sure America stays safe and prosperous by using new science and technology to solve energy and environmental problems.

The FESI will raise money and invest it in cool energy projects to speed up how fast new energy ideas get out there. This will help America reach its clean energy goals set by the Biden-Harris Administration.

The U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm, thinks this is a big deal. She says the FESI will help bring big solutions to big problems.

Since 1959, there have been twelve other foundations like this one, and they’ve done great things. For every dollar the government gave them, they made $67!

The board members for FESI are all top leaders in energy and other related fields. They’ll make big decisions about where the foundation spends its money and what projects to support.

And here’s a fun fact: there are also four people from the DOE who will be part of the board, but they won’t vote. They’ll be there to give advice and help make sure everything runs smoothly.

The FESI will work closely with the DOE’s Office of Technology Transition to make sure they’re helping the department meet its goals and get new technology out into the world. This is a big step towards making America cleaner and more secure!
