Extreme H, the groundbreaking hydrogen racing series, unveiled its first-ever hydrogen-powered racing car, the Pioneer 25, during a global media event aboard the St. Helena vessel with London’s iconic Tower Bridge as the backdrop. The launch marks the official countdown to the series’ maiden season, set to begin in April 2025.
Pioneering the Future of Sustainable Motorsport
The Extreme H series showcases hydrogen fuel cell technology in a competitive racing environment, setting a new standard for eco-friendly motorsport. Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO of Extreme H, emphasized the significance of the launch, stating, “We are incredibly proud to introduce the world to the first hydrogen racing car and the Extreme H series. This launch is about pioneering the future of sustainable motorsport.”
Strong Partnership Support
The evolution of the championship is made possible through the support of strong partners, including the Public Investment Fund (PIF) as the Principal Partner across all three electric race series – Formula E, Extreme E, and E1 – through the Electric 360 (E360) partnership.
The Pioneer 25: A Technological Revolution
The Pioneer 25, designed and manufactured by Spark Racing Technology, is equipped with a 75kW hydrogen fuel cell from Symbio, Extreme H’s Official Fuel Cell Provider. Key features of the Pioneer 25 include:
- Peak 400kW (550hp) output
- Acceleration from 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds
- Ability to scale gradients of up to 130 percent
- Customizable front and rear bodywork and lights for teams to replicate everyday car models
Next Milestones
The next major milestone for Extreme H will be the first public test of the Pioneer 25, scheduled to take place at Extreme E’s Hydro X Prix in Scotland on July 13-14, 2023.
