Hyvia, a Renault Group and Plug joint venture, showcased its prototype hybrid hydrogen van. They presented the Renault Master H2-Tech at the IAA Transportation event in Hanover. The prototype, set for series production by 2025, offers a 700 km range and 5-minute refueling.

Key Features of the Renault Master H2-Tech Prototype

The Renault Master H2-Tech Prototype provides several advantages for businesses transitioning to zero-emission vehicles:

  • Versatile platform: Configure the van for various applications, including large volume and refrigerated transport.
  • Integrated hydrogen architecture: The fully integrated hydrogen system preserves load volume and payload.
  • New-generation fuel cell: Hyvia developed the 47-kW fuel cell using Plug’s technology and produces it in France.
  • Intelligent hybrid system: The fuel cell and 20-kWh battery optimize energy efficiency together.
  • Choice of H2 fuel tanks: Customers can select between 7.5 or 9 kg tanks to meet range requirements.

Expanding Hydrogen Infrastructure

Hyvia works with OPmobility and Forvia to develop a network of hydrogen stations across Europe. They have already begun deploying the HYWELL station, developed with Atawey.

Production Plans

Renault Group will produce the hydrogen version of the new Renault Master at their Batilly plant. They will manufacture it alongside combustion and electric versions of the vehicle. This multi-energy platform allows Renault to offer tailored solutions to customers.

Commitment to Zero-Emission Mobility

Nicolas Champetier, CEO of Hyvia, emphasized the company’s dedication to zero-emission mobility for intensive professional use. Heinz-Jürgen Löw, SVP of Renault Brand LCV & President of Hyvia’s Supervisory Board, highlighted Renault’s pioneering role.

The Renault Master H2-Tech Prototype marks a significant step in the development of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles.
