Ion Fuel LLC has established a new subsidiary, H2 Grills, to develop hydrogen-fuelled barbeque systems using their patented on-site hydrogen production technology. The goal is to create an affordable and safe hydrogen system that can be adapted to most barbeques currently available on the market.

H2 Grills: Green Energy for Your BBQ

According to Ion Fuels, their hydrogen-powered grills will leave “no unnatural taste of gas in your cooked foods.” The company expects to make these innovative grills available to customers by early 2025.

Ion Fuel’s CEO, William Green, stated that their solutions are expected to “significantly reduce the cost of hydrogen access and support the replacement of fossil fuels in many applications across industries and products.” He added, “We are taking our hydrogen production system, and applying it to the world of barbeques. Not only is hydrogen an excellent fuel for cooking, but it is true green energy that is now available and affordable for everyone.”

How H2 Grills Work?

Jeff Basford, Ion Fuel’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), explained, “Our hydrogen generator operates on solar, wind or plug power, using only distilled water to produce true green hydrogen, which is then used to fuel your barbeque grill.”

The company is actively seeking partners to assist in developing the barbeque grill component of their system. Their goal is to collaborate with barbeque manufacturers to integrate the hydrogen technology into existing product lines.

The Debate on Hydrogen Use in Homes

The use of hydrogen in homes, particularly for heating, has become a controversial topic within the industry. In May, the UK Government announced that a hydrogen heating town pilot trial would be postponed until after a 2026 decision on the role of hydrogen in heating is made.

Despite the ongoing debate, H2 Grills aims to provide an eco-friendly alternative for outdoor cooking enthusiasts, offering a sustainable solution that reduces reliance on fossil fuels.
