US-based Ohmium Strengthens its Position in the Global Green Hydrogen Market
Ohmium, a leading US-based electrolyser manufacturer, has inaugurated its new 2GW gigafactory near Bengaluru, India. The company, which focuses on the Indian market, aims to meet the growing demand for green hydrogen solutions with its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
Ohmium’s Unique PEM Electrolysers Designed for Mass Production
The new gigafactory spans nearly 14,000 square meters and is equipped to ship fully assembled and tested electrolyzer systems. Ohmium’s chief operating officer, Ashwin Varma, emphasizes the company’s commitment to standardized, high-quality, and efficient manufacturing processes, which enable superior performance at competitive costs.
Ohmium’s hyper modular PEM electrolyzers are designed for:
- Easy assembly
- Rapid scaling from megawatts to gigawatts
- Significantly reduced installation and maintenance costs
- Dynamic ramping capabilities, making them ideal for pairing with renewable electricity
Ohmium’s Global Presence and Recognition
Despite being a relatively new player in the market, Ohmium has already established a strong global presence. The company has a project pipeline of more than 2GW across three continents, although the proportion of firm orders is not disclosed. Time magazine has recognized Ohmium’s potential, ranking it second on its list of America’s top green-tech companies.
India’s Support for Electrolyser Manufacturing
The Indian government has shown strong support for the development of the green hydrogen industry. In March, Ohmium was awarded more than 2bn rupees ($24m) in subsidies for electrolyser manufacturing in India, further solidifying its position in the market.
