The Green Hydrogen Organisation (GH2) and Trovio Operating Pty Ltd (Trovio) just made a big announcement at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam. They’re teaming up to create something super cool: a Global Registry for Green Hydrogen and Green Hydrogen Derivative Certification.
What’s the buzz about? Well, this registry is going to be a game-changer. It’s going to make sure that when people talk about green hydrogen, they mean hydrogen made with renewable electricity and meets the highest standards for being clean and eco-friendly.
How will it work? Trovio’s got this awesome technology called CorTenX that’s going to power the registry. This means for the first time, everyone in the industry can easily track where the hydrogen comes from and make sure it’s top-notch.
This registry will also help companies follow rules and regulations, like the ones in the EU and the US. So, when they say their hydrogen is green, they can prove it!
Projects that meet the Green Hydrogen Standard will get a special label: “GH2 Green Hydrogen.” They’ll also get certificates to show off their green hydrogen and derivatives like green ammonia.
When can we expect this registry to go live? They’re aiming for early 2025. That’s when producers, traders, and customers can start using it to make sure their hydrogen is as green as can be.
Some big players in the green hydrogen world, like Fortescue and Adani, are already on board. They’re excited about how this registry will make things easier and more transparent for everyone.
The best part? This registry is going to help build trust in the green hydrogen industry and speed up its growth. That means more clean energy for everyone!
