• Exciting news from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office (HFTO)! They’ve just announced the winner of the 2024 Postdoctoral Recognition Award, and it’s Dr. Tanya Agarwal from Los Alamos National Laboratory.
  • Dr. Agarwal snagged this prestigious award for her outstanding work in improving the durability of ionomer membranes and electrodes. Her groundbreaking research is helping to tackle a persistent problem with cerium, a key antioxidant for fuel cell membranes. By finding solutions to this issue, Dr. Agarwal is paving the way for more reliable and long-lasting fuel cell technologies.
  • The award was presented at the DOE Hydrogen Program’s 2024 Annual Merit Review and Peer Evaluation Meeting, held in Arlington, Virginia. It’s part of HFTO’s efforts to recognize postdoctoral fellows who are making significant contributions to hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
  • But Dr. Agarwal wasn’t the only standout researcher. The HFTO also acknowledged the impressive work of runners-up Andrew Rowberg from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Rebecca Hamlyn from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Kui Li from Los Alamos National Laboratory. Their research covers a wide range of topics, from solid-oxide electrolysis to fuel cell materials and electrolyzers.
  • These researchers are at the forefront of innovation, driving progress in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Their dedication and expertise are paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
